Kitson, sculptor), stands on the common in Lexington, Massachusetts. Motto IN SEARCH OF TRUTH. Symbolism Shield Oriental Blue is the primary color traditionally used by the Military Intelligence Branch. Gold alludes to the nickname of California, "The Golden State." The contrasting black and gold underscore night and day vigilance as well as covert and overt missions. The torch embodies leadership with its flames symbolizing the "gift of tongues," hence the linguistic capabilities of the battalion. The key refers to the mission of Military Intelligence organizations. The quill highlights the unit's role in transcribing and interpreting information.
