| Description |
English: 33KV polymer fuse cutout. This is a combination fuse and switch which is connected between an overhead high voltage power distribution line on a utility pole and a service drop, a feedline to the customer's building. It serves as an overload protector and a device for opening and closing the ciruit. If there is an overload or short ciruit in the customer's wiring, the metal bar will melt and the device will pivot open to indicate the problem. It can also be opened manually to disconnect the power while the line is energized, by a lineworker on the ground, using a long insulated fiberglass pole with a hook, called a hotstick.
