Summary[edit]

Description
English: 330-PS-7805 (USN 686574): Television monitor located in the control tower at U.S. Naval Air Station, Alameda, California. Air Controlman Second Class R.F. Slaughter, USN, controls air traffic through a system consisting of three television cameras which relay pictures to three 12-inch video monitors in the airfield control tower. The remotely controlled closed-circuit system permits the Air Controlman to see different portions of the various runways, which are blocked off by intervening buildings. Naval Air Station, Alameda, is the first installation of its type to employ television for this purpose. Photograph released April 12, 1956. (2/11/2015).
