Description/Blazon

  • Shield: Azure, a flash of lightning bendways between in sinister chief a cross crosslet and in dexter base an oak tree, all Argent.
  • Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve:  On a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure, the Lexington Minute Man Proper.  The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the Common in Lexington, Massachusetts.
  • Motto: ALLONS MES ENFANTS (Forward, My Children).

Symbolism

  • Shield: The shield is blue for the Infantry and across this is charged the lightning flash from the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 78th Division.  The cross crosslet is from the arms of the Arrondissement of Commercy, in which is St. Mihiel, and the oak tree represents the Meuse-Argonne.
  • Crest: The crest is that of the United States Army Reserve.

Background

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 310th Infantry Regiment on 24 October 1925.  It was redesignated for the 310th Regiment on 26 January 1962.
