The lower image is credited to Curtis and Miller, but they would simply have owned the copyright on someone else's photo. In 1882, Asahel Curtis was a small child.

The "to-day" image shows the view south on 2nd Ave. from the New Washington Hotel (at 2nd Ave. and Stewart St.). The "yesterday" image shows the view south on 2nd Ave. from Pike St.


Not really the same view, though the point of view might be similar or even the same. The picture at the bottom angles considerably to the right of the one above.
