Phillip Kirk (right), commander of the Pierce City, Mo.-based 276th Engineer Company, attached to the Fort Bragg, N.C.-based 82nd Sustainment Brigade-U.S. Central Command Materiel Recovery Element, and his company first sergeant, Lebanon, Mo.-native, 1st Sgt. Timothy Uptegrove uncase their company colors during an April 24 transfer of authority ceremony with the Summerville, S.C.-based 1223rd Engineer Company at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. Over the course of a nine-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, troops with the 276th will work various deconstruction projects and will assist in the transfer of bases to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
