| Description | Panama City, Florida. 12 miles from Tyndall Field. One of several photos in the Tyndall Target (April 8, 1944) in an article titled "Pinch Me, I must be dreaming". Caption is: "Bud Davis welcomes gunners to the Ritz Theater". Top gunners in the class received two day tour of Panama City at he expense of Dixie-Sherman (room and meals), $5 from Steadman Hobbs (president of the local transit company), several rounds of golf and lunch at the Panama Country Club, the "works" at the Post Barber Shop, cleaning and pressing service courtesy of the Post cleaners, soda fountain drinks of their choice at Walgreens, Childs, Johnsons, Adams or Daffins Drug Store. There were only two theaters in Panama City, the Ritz and the Panama. The poster is for the 1943 film "Cry Havoc". A theater was later built at Tyndall Field. |
