Description |
English: White paper with typed black text May 14, 1929 Major Bruce Cotton, Rolling Park, Baltimore, Md. Dear Major Cotton: Inclosed [sic] herewith find map showing the new location your Commission selected for the North Carolina Monument. As I understand you desire a site 200 feet square. I have forwarded a like map to The Quartermaster General, with the remark that I see no objection to the site you have selected, except that we do not consider it as appropriate historically as the old site on West Confederate Avenue. This location is on the front occupied by Davis’s Brigade in which there was but one North Carolina regiment—the 55th. The old site was on the front of Pettigrew’s Brigade, which comprised the 11th, 26th, 47th and 52nd North Carolina Infantry. Very truly yours, E. E. Davis Superintendent.
