Trost im Kreuz
Am 5. September 1937 entgleiste im Bereich des Holzheimer
Bahnhofs ein mit über siebenhundert Personen
aus Ortschaften der heutigen Gemeinde Rommerskirchen
und der heutigen Stadt Grevenbroich besetzter
Pilgerzug nach Kevelaer. Neunzehn Tote, Darunter auch
der Zugleiter aus Köln, sowie über fünfzig, teils
Schwerverletzte waren damals zu beklagen.
Die ganze Region stand unter Schock, und die Menschen
nahmen grossen Anteil an dem traurigen Ereignis.
