Description

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Soil Conservationist Robin Amie (Orangeburg Service Center), is at The Flying Leatherneck Ranch, to meet with Owner, Hay Producer, and Marine Jim McClain, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, on Nov 18, 2020.

They talk about the USDA NRCS easement agreement and general conservation plan.

The agreement has some of his property entering the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) while retaining a lifetime of grazing rights and ensuring a legacy of working agricultural land use. For him, he produces premium coastal hay to feed his cattle and for sale to horse owners. The ACEP provides financial and technical assistance to help conserve agricultural lands and wetlands and their related benefits. Under the Agricultural Land Easements component, NRCS helps landowners or land users to protect working agricultural lands and to keep them in their current state.
