Summary[edit]

Description
English: Straddling Bay Street on the east side of King Street at the center of Midland, Ontario, Canada are several of the handsome old brick buildings that lend downtown a Victorian character. At left is the heritage-listed, Gothic-styled building at 203-207 King Street, built in 1872 by the Burton Brothers of nearby Barrie and which served for eighteen years as the local branch of the Western Bank of Canada. It was also an Eaton's department store at one point. At right is 213 King Street, then home to the School Bus Surf Shop, about which historical information is scant but which, given its restrained take on French Second Empire architecture, appears to be roughly contemporary in vintage to its neighbor.
