Cantharellus texensis Buyck & V. Hofst. Image location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA Growing in mixed woods in the Big Sandy Creek Unit of the Big Thicket NP. Spore length on these were in the 8-9.5 micron range which is one of the distinguishing characteristics that differentiates it from C. cinnabarius whose spore length is from ~ 6.5-8.0 microns. My digital camera does not do justice to redness of this type of species.
