(photo taken at the beginning of the First World War in 1918 or 1919). This type of firing range, open and located in wild nature, has the advantage of limiting intoxication of shooters who inhale less "Fume of fire ", but may have left heavy environmental sequelae (the bullets of the time were all lead unsheathed and their primer was systematically made of fulminate mercury. Firing in this environment is a source of "pollutants in dispersed quantities" then difficult to clean, and lead is harder to recover than in a closed or semi-open firing range.
English: Champ de tir (ouvert) dit "Camp Funston", de l'armée américaine, situé au Kansas (image extraite d'un album de photo prise au début de la première Guerre mondiale entre 1918 et 1919). Ce type de champ de tir, ouvert et situé en pleine nature, présente l'avantage de limiter l'intoxication des tireurs qui y inhalent moins de fumée de tir, mais peut avoir laissé de lourdes séquelles environnementales (les balles de l'époque étaient toutes en plomb non chemisé et leur amorce était systématiquement faite de fulminate de mercure. Le tir dans cette environnement est source de "polluants en quantité dispersée" ensuite difficile à traiter, et le plomb est plus difficile à récupérer qu'en stand de tir fermé ou semi-ouvert.
