Discussion:

Although the four coins were discovered on different occasions throughout August, September, and December 2012, they were recovered within a short distance of each other in the same area of one field. All four coins are close in date; three can be dated from AD 1696 to 1697; the other coin is too worn to date precisely, but can be dated from AD 1694 to 1702. As the coins are so close in date and they were found within a short distance of each other, this group of coins probably represents either the contents of a dropped purse or a small hoard.

Consequently, in terms of age, association and as the coins contains a minimum of 10% precious metal they qualify as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
