| Description |
The Buick Verano allows Buick to return to the compact car segment, for the first time since the discontinuation of the Skylark in the late 1990s. The Verano is based on the Daewoo-designed Chevrolet Cruze. GM China had already been selling a Daewoo-based Buick, the Excelle, for a while, and the Verano replaces the Excelle (China's best-selling car) and also brings the model to the US. This US-spec preproduction model has a VIN that starts with L, denoting Chinese assembly; however, actual production models will be built in the US. In any case, I think this is the first time I am spotting a mainstream-market Chinese-assembled vehicle in the US. |
