Deutsch: 20.10.2009 01662 Meißen: Frauenkirche (GMP: 51.162718,13.470001). 1205 wird erstmals
urkundlich eine "Kapelle am Markt" genannt, die 1213 als "Kirche St. Maria am Markt" bezeichnet ist. Seit dem 14. Jh. tritt der Name "Kapelle Unserer lieben Frauen St. Marien" oder "Frauenkirche" hervor. Sie war sie in dieser Zeit dem Augustiner-Chorherrenstift St. Afra unterstellt, denn die Afrakirche galt als die eigentliche Hauptkirche der Stadt und des Umlandes. Mit dem zunehmenden Wohlstand der Bürgerschaft erhielt sie schließlich 1457 den Charakter einer Parochialkirche. Bei den großen Stadtbränden von 1447 und 1455 wurde die Kirche zerstört. Um 1460 entstand ein neuer Bau, der bis zum Beginn des 16. Jh. hinzog. In dieser Form, als spätgotische Hallenkirche, ist sie heute zu sehen. Blick in den Chor. Flügelaltar, gotische Schnitzaltar, ehemaliger "Marienaltar", eine Arbeit um 1480/90 vom "Meister des Meißner Frauenkirchaltars".
