Description
Deutsch: 31.03.2009 04769 Altmügeln (Mügeln): Straße des Friedens (GMP: 51.240064,13.035497). Marienkirche. Mittelalterliche Wallfahrtskirche. 1487 und 1512 als eine der letzten von Grund auf im Stile der Spätgotik neu gebaut. Nur der wuchtige Turm stammt noch von der alten Wehrkirche. Ein Blitzeinschlag verursachte 1536 schwere Zerstörungen. Als die Marienkirche 1539 erneut fertig war, gärte im Land schon die Reformation. Sie ist eine der letzten alten Kirchen, die nach katholischen Ritus geweiht wurden. Erst zwei Jahre später wurde hier lutherisch gepredigt. Auf dem Mügelner Schloß ging ja immer noch der Katholische Bischof ein und aus. Für ein Gewölbe reichte wohl das Geld nicht mehr und so verzierte 1720 der Oschatzer Maler Johannes Roßberg die flache Holzfelderdecke zu einer sog. "Bilderbibel".
