Deutsch: 06.01.2007 01069 Dresden-Seevorstadt Ost: Blick von Südosten von der Wiener Straße zur östlichen Randbebauung der Prager Straße. In Bildmitte das Mercure Hotel Prager Straße
34 (GMP: 51.042408,13.735333). Erbaut wurde es in der DDR von 1968 bis 1970 als "Interhotel Newa" (Architekten Claus Kayser, Manfred Arlt, Hans Fuhrmann und Jochen Weinert). Der Name des Hotelbaus wechselte nach der Wende mehrfach, so in "Mercure Hotel Newa Dresden" und "Pullmann Dresden Newa". Der Name Newa nimmt Bezug auf den größten Fluß in Sankt Petersburg (damals Leningrad) der Partnerstadt Dresdens. Der Hochbau ist ein 15-geschossiger Plattenbau mit einer Aluminium-Vorhangfassade. Rechts hinter dem Hotel schließt sich die "Prager Zeile"an. Ganz rechts das 1936 als "Siemenshaus" errichtete Gebäude an der Sidonienstraße. Links im Bild das neu erbaute Geschäftshaus, das sog.
