Karah VanMetre, from Cleveland, Texas, a petroleum supply specialist of E Company, 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, crushes a softball high and far at a ceremony in her honor on Hood Army Airfield, Aug. 17. VanMetre was recently selected to attend the All Army women's softball tryouts at Fort Indiantown, Pa., where she will compete against others for a position on the All Army team which will participate in the All Armed Forces tournament Sept. 15-21. After the tournament, if picked, VanMetre may play for the All Armed Forces team in the amateur Softball Association's national championship tournament Sept. 30-Oct. 2 as well. |
