Ce mont qui ressemble à muraille est une montage d'une longueur de 10 km environ, l'avant garde du désert, Les gorges d'El-Kantara ou port du Sahara qui a ensorcelé des dizaines d'orientalistes.
Deutsch: Die Schlucht von El-Kantara. Seit 1923 geschütztes Gebiet (Liste der als Kulturerbe eingestuften Stätten und Denkmäler). Der Palmenhain von El-Kantara kontrastiert mit dem 4 km dahinter aufragenden Berg Métlili (1495 m). In El-Kantara kommen Kälte und Hitze zusammen! Dieser 10 km lange Berg steht wie eine Mauer als Vorposten gegen die Wüste, davor die El-Kantara-Schlucht wie ein Hafen am Rand der Sahara, der Dutzende von Orientalisten verzaubert hat.
