Summary[edit]

Description
English: 1GL bench mark and bolt on Ayton Bridge. This bench mark, which dates to the First Geodetic Levelling on the Thirsk to Scarborough line in 1845 is not on the top of the bridge, but a few metres further east. The original schedule states that it is over the centre arch of the bridge, but there only seem to be four arches, and actually it seems to be over the third arch when heading east.
