English: The location as it looks today Queer Nation is doing the "Shame Shame Shame" thing at members of the community yelling at them for being too confrontational and obnoxious - the whole idea of QN was for the gay community to stop being that nice, well behaved boy with the good citizenship record in school. Because it was time to turn it up a notch - like if "gay" is contemporary pop, "queer" is heavy metal. They did things the gay community had never done before. My favorite was the "queer-in," where a business that had just the night before kicked out a gay couple for kissing got a whole lot more that the next night - and only the police could stop it - not a threat to call police - but the actual police would have to call out the "paddy wagon" and everything. The press of course would be alerted so they could come cover the fun. |
