Description

The Espirit sports car was built by Lotus from 1976-2004, it replaced the Lotus Europa. The 1976-79 Series 1, like most Lotus cars had a fibreglass body on a steel chassis, unique to the Series 1 was a shovel-style front air dam, Fiat X1/9 tail lights, lack of body-side ducting. Engine; 160hp 2.0 4 cyl The 1978-81 Series 2 got intake and cooling duct ears located behind the rear quarter window, tail lights from the Rover SD1, and an integrated front spoiler. In 1980 engine size was increased to 2.2 The 1980-87 Series 3 got more substantial bumpers, and a body kit Engine now 172hp for 2.2 and 215hp for the Turbo

The 1987-2004 Series 4 got a more rounded styling, in 1993; a facelift, which included a smaller rear spoiler placed halfway up the rear decklid. Other major changes were to the front and rear bumpers, side skirts and valence panels
