The 911 is a luxury sports car, first introduced in 1964, replacing the 356, it is still built today. With a flat 6 cyl, rear mounted air cooled engine, it has always been very competitive in motorsport. The original 1964 911 had a 130hp 1991cc engine. in 1975 the 911 Turbo was introduced. It had a wider bodywork, the now famous 'whale tail', a capacity of 3.0 litres and an output of 260hp that eventually topped 300hp when the boxer’s capacity rose to 3.3 liters The first of these was the Type 930 911, which was never intended for volume production. Porsche’s aim was to sell the 400 cars required to homologate a turbo version of its rear-engined flat-six for international competition for the 1976 season, only 284 hand built cars were produced.
