Description
Deutsch: 29.05.1975 DDR 6800 [07318] Saalfeld/Saale, Münzplatz 5 / Brudergasse: Das ehemalige Franziskanerkloster (GMP: 50.646379,11.357743), auch Barfüßerkloster, bestand von etwa 1250 bis 1534. Ursprünglich frühgotische Klosterkirche St. Andreas (nach 1270). Erdgeschoß dreischiffig mit niedrigen Kreuzgewölben, (um 1820). Obergeschoß mit reich bemalter Stuckdecke (um 1725) vom Gothaer Hofmaler Johann Heinrich Ritter, jetzt Festsaal für Feiern und Konzerte. Die Klostergebäude wurden um 1490-1515 umgebaut, Obergeschosse im wesentl. um 1735 neu errichtet (für Schulzwecke). Im Klostergebäude wurde eine Lateinschule eingerichtet, die bis 1914 bestand. Spätgotischer Kreuzgang sowie Kapellen (1500-1515). Infolge der Reformation mussten die Franziskaner 1534 Kloster und Stadt verlassen. Ab 1904 teilweise, seit 1999 insgesamt Stadtmuseum.
