Description

The Ford Anglia was first introduced in 1939, built in the UK over four generations, generally the Anglia was a 2 door Sedan, the Prefect, the 4 door version. Australian versions included 2 door Tourers and Coupe Utilitys. The last Anglia produced before being replaced by the Ford Escort, was the 1959-68 105E, it featured prominent eye headlamps, backward slanted rear window and tail fins, powered by the new 39hp 997cc Kent OHV 4 cyl. Originally available as just a 2 door saloon, then from 1961, an estate and van too. Two models were available from 1959; the Standard, (narrow painted slatted grille and less chrome) and the Deluxe, (single chrome side strip, full width chrome grille). In 1962, a more upmarket model was introduced, the 123E Anglia Super, identified by twin chrome side strips, contrasting coloured roof and side flash and larger 49hp 1198cc Kent OHV 4 cyl engine. (From 1964, this engine was available in all models, 46 or 49hp)

Broadspeed Engineering Ltd was a British automobile tuning and engineering company, they offered race tuning packages for both BMC and Ford engines. In 1965, Broadspeed began to transition its support from BMC to Ford products after Broad was approached by Ford with an offer to begin campaigning the Ford Anglia, and later the Escort
