| Description |
William Morris said the Morris Minor looked like a poached egg, but it was quite an advanced little car for its day, with rack and pinion steering and independent front suspension. The Series II Minor was built from 1952-56, it replaced the MM, the headlights were moved to the wings and it got a new engine. Still available in 2 or 4 door, convertible and Traveller Estate (with external wooden trim). Van and Pickup were introduced in 1953. A facelift in 1954, the Series IIb, this car, saw a new grille and the trafficators replaced with indicators. From 1956, it was the Morris 1000, the engine size was increased from 803cc to 998cc, hence the name Morris 1000. The 1000 was identified by a 1 piece windscreen, earlier cars had a join in the middle Engine; New 803cc 4 cyl OHV shared with the Austin A30 |
