English: DA SILVA ADHEMAR: (1927-2001) Brazilian Athlete, Olympic Gold Medallist in the Triple Jump at Helsinki (1952) and Melbourne (1956). Vintage signed 6 x 8 photograph, the image depicting Da Silva standing in a full length pose on a podium following his victory in the triple jump at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. Standing alongside him are silver medallist Leonid Shcherbakov of Russia and bronze medallist Arnoldo Devonish of Venezuela. Signed by Da Silva in blue fountain pen ink to a light area of the image, adding Brasil in his hand beneath his signature. A few very light, extremely minor corner creases, VG. £80-100 ADHEMAR DA SILVA (1927-2001) Atleta brasile–o, medallista ol’mpico, oro en triple salto en Helsinki (1952) y Melbourne (1956). Fotograf’a de Žpoca, de 15 x 20«5 cm, firmada por el atleta. This photograph is in the public domain in Finland, because either a period of 50 years has elapsed from the year of creation or the photograph was first published before 1966. The section 49a of the Finnish Copyright Act (404/1961, amended 607/2015) specifies that photographs not considered to be "works of art" become public domain 50 years after they were created. The 50 years from creation protection period came into force in 1991. Before that the protection period was 25 years from the year of first publication according to the §16 of the law of protection of photographs of 1961. Material already released to public domain according to the 1961 law remains in public domain, and therefore all photographs (but not photographic works of art) released before 1966 are in the public domain.
