1939 North Platte, NE Soap Box Derby Champion Mason Colbert

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A 1939 Soap Box Derby racer designed, built and piloted by Mason Colbert of Nebraska City, Nebraska. Colbert won the local championship across state in North Platte. At the Nationals in Akron, OH, Mason's entry was favored to win the Championship had he not suffered an unavoidable collision in the semi-final heat, which he won. Unable to continue because of the extent of the damage, he was assured 3rd place. Illustration by Bill Wrigley taken from digital 3D model created by the author and found online at Classic Soap Box Derby Racers (1933-1999).
