Description

August 6, 1939

“Driving northeastward from Boulder we ran into a terrific dust storm. I raced the dust storm and gradually pulled away from it. On we went and came in time to Nebraska – a country we like, with its rolling hills, through Kearney and after dark to North Platte.

“Here we stopped at Campbell’s Motor Court, which is on an old ranch once owned by Buffalo Bill. We had supper at the McCabe Hotel coffee shop – a good place to eat – then back again and to bed. We could see, by the lights, that our motor court is well landscaped with trees, shrubs and flowers.”
