Description
Deutsch: Porträt des Herrenschneiders Walther Silberstein (1871-1930), Öl auf Leinwand, 1923 gemalt von Lovis Corinth. Das Ölgemälde war zu Beginn des Zweiten Weltkrieges "günstig" von dem Berliner Bauunternehmer Conrad Doebbeke erworben worden. Nach dem Krieg entfernte dieser den Namen Silberstein aus der Widmung - er fürchtete eine ",Rückerstattungs'-Gefahr" durch Hinweis auf den jüdischen Vorbesitzer - und brachte das Ölgemälde dann in den Kunsthandel. Ein Enkel hat das Bild im Jahr 2003 vom letzten Besitzer zurückgekauft, um langwierige juristische Prozesse zu vermeiden ...
