Summary[edit]

Description

Compassman at work in the field. Western pine beetle control. Forest Service staff compasses were used. Compass lines were run through the sections at intervals of 10 chains. A spotter accompanied the compassman on each side. Infested trees were marked and spots were located on 4-inch scale section plots by compassman. Physical features, broods, trails, and springs were also spotted by compassman. Number 3. Southern Oregon Northern California beetle control project.
