Description |
A black and white photographic postcard of the 1913 flood in Columbus, Ohio. The 1913 flood occurred when Ohio received a heavy downpour that flooded many Ohio rivers, including the Scioto river, and the levees failed. In Columbus, more than five inches of rain fell in 24 hours beginning on March 24, 1913. Combined with a heavy winter snowfall, it was too much for the levees. In Columbus, 96 people died as a result of the flood. |
