Description
Deutsch: Ein 1901 datiertes Foto zeigt den beengten Innenhof mit wenig LIcht und Luft zwischen den Fachwerkhäusern hinter dem Eingang des Hauses Knochenhauerstraße 5 in Hannover. Nach dem Fortzug wohlhabenderer Bürger in die Neubauviertel außerhalb der Altstadt verfielen die alten Fachwerkhäuser im Zentrum der Stadt mehr und mehr und wurden zum feuchten und dunkeln "Wohnsitz" der ärmeren Bevölkerungsschicht. Auch gab es noch kaum moderne sanitäre Anlagen in den alten Häusern: Die "Toilette" (Abtritt) für die Bewohner des hier fotografisch dokumentierten Hauses fand sich am Ende des Hofes hinten rechts ...
