English: Maj. Gen. William R. Smith commanded the US Army, Pacific (Hawaiian Department) from August 1927 to January 1928. After attending Vanderbilt University for two years he graduated from the US Military Academy in 1892 and gained his commission in the Artillery. A World War I veteran, he also graduated from the School of Submarine Defense in Fort Totten, New York. |
