Description
English: An engraved 1805 maps of Moscow, published by Freres Courtener bookshop. Frenchman Francois Courtener arrived in Moscow in 1770s and managed a bookshop and a small printshop until his death in 1814. The map presents the city shortly before the disastrous fire of 1805 and sunsequent reconstruction, which obliterated many features of the past. The map was reproduced by other publishers, like Goetz and Dietrich (Munich, 1812) - with all the omissions and errors of the original.
