| Description |
English: Red deer stag antlers, hunting trophy of Devon and Somerset Staghounds, mounted by Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 9th Baronet (1752-1794) in his stables at Holnicote House, Selworthy, Somerset. Plaque inscribed: "1793: Found in Pudner, kill'd at Major Beavis Goodleigh". Major Henry II Beavis (1736-1813), from 1803 Lieutenant-Colonel Commandant of the Barnstaple Volunteer Infantry, lived at Yeotown House, in the parish of Goodleigh, near Barnstaple, North Devon. His mural monument survives in Pilton Church, on which he is called "Commandant, North Devon Regiment of Local Militia". |
