English: Plaque iscribed with the poetry devoted from the Latin poet Ausonius to Milan (then capital of the Roman Empire in his Ordo nobilium urbium. The plaque possibily comes from a previous Monument to Ausonius standing on the façade of the Palace of the palatine schools, in Piazza Mercanti ("Merchant square"), in the place where the more recent monument can be seen today. The plaque stands before the entrance to the Ancient History Museum in the Castello sforzesco. Picture by Giovanni Dall'Orto, September 24 2007.
