English: Top view on the second oldest brass pillar (nail) in Corn Street, Bristol, in front of THE Corn Exchange, with two inscriptions:

„THIS POST IS THE GIFT OF MASTER ROBERT KITCHEN MERCHANT SOMETIME MAIOR AND ALDERMAN OF THIS CITY WHO DEC(lined) I SEPTEMB(er) 1594“

A second inscription in latin:

„COMMEMORAVERVNT INCOMMEMORABILIORA
PRÆTERMISERVNT COMMEMORABILIA“

If you look at the side of the column, you will find another inscription with the name of John Barker who died 1636!
