Description

165th Military Intelligence Battalion Coat of Arms

Description/Blazon Shield Sable, a torch Azure (Oriental Blue) issuing rays from an intertwined continuous ribbon Argent. Crest None. Motto QUALITY, PRIDE, SUCCESS.

Symbolism Shield Oriental blue and silver gray are the colors used for the Army Intelligence and Security Branch. The torch is symbolic of the illumination provided by the collection and dissemination of intelligence data; the black background suggests secrecy and stealth. The ribbonlike symbol, in place of a flame, folds back on itself and is representative of the counterintelligence mission. Crest None.

Background The coat of arms was approved on 29 June 1988. It was amended to remove the crest, to which the unit was not entitled, on 14 October 1996.
