English: CF de l’Est Srs.11S or 4400 Class/SNCF Class 141TB 2-8-2T No.141TB.407 (ex-Est No.4407) in SNCF lined green livery at the AJECTA Festival at Longueville Depot, 6 May 2023. No.4407 was built in 1913 by ANF at Blanc Misseron.
Two prototypes designed by the Est’s CME Louis Salomon were built by the Est’s Epernay works in 1911 followed by a production batch of 110 in 1913-17 but a further batch of 50 were cancelled because of delays resulting from WWI and the desire to have a more modern design for future production. The class was put to work on the Paris Gare de l’Est suburban services. In WWII No.141TB.407, like many of her sisters, was requisitioned by Germany but returned from there in 1945. On electrification of the Gare de l’Est’s suburban services, No.141TB.407 and many of her sisters worked from the Gare de la Bastille until that closed in December 1969 and its services were taken over by the RER. No.141TB.407 was then transferred to the CFTA for mixed traffic work on secondary lines on the Longueville – Provins – Villiers St. George line until withdrawn in 1972. |
