Description

AWM caption : "Palestine. c 1917. Members of the 5th Light Horse with a 13 pounder Mark 4 anti aircraft gun mounted on the back of a Leyland truck. The truck has been stabilised around the wheels with sandbags and boxes of ammunition are stacked around it. Note the soldier relaxing in front of the truck, sheltered by its shadow, with his helmet next to him."
Comment : This in fact appears to be a 13 pounder 6 cwt gun mounted on a Thornycoft Type J lorry. The recuperator has an oil reservoir mounted on the end, not often seen on 13 pounders.
