Summary[edit]

Description
English: Commercial Steel Treating, located at 1394 E. 39th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.

The structure was built by the Bassett-Presley Co., a iron and steel jobbing company. (It had formed in 1888 as Bassett, Presley & Train.) It purchased lots 13 through 35 on E. 39th Street (then known as Clifton Street) in 1902 and erected this 180 foot deep, 360 foot long warehouse. The local architectural firm of Knox & Elliott designed the 1.836 million square feet building, which had a steel frame and was built of brick. The cost was $50,000 (about $1.4 million in 2016 dollars.)

Carnegie Steel purchased Bassett-Presley in 1911, and expanded the warehouse south to Superior Avenue. The warehouse was later occupied by Scully Steel Products Co. (later known as United States Steel Supply Company).

Commercial Steel Treating was founded about 1931. They moved into this building about 1991.
