Summary[edit]

Description
English: 1369 Arrives at Buckfastleigh. Engine number 1369 was built in 1934 and retired in 1964. After a very lengthy stop-start process of restoration the engine was finally returned to working order in 1996. Notice the bell on the side of the locomotive just below the cab. This "Weymouth Bell" was first placed there in 1960 when the engine worked the Weymouth Tramway which was a most unusual length of railway line in that it ran through the streets of Weymouth between Weymouth Town Station and Weymouth Quay. On this stretch of line the train had to be preceded by railway workers on foot and the fireman had to ring the bell continuously. Here's a photo of a diesel on that line in 1980 886634.
