Summary[edit]

Description
English: National Railways of Zimbabwe 20A class 'Garratt' 4-8-2+2-8-4 locomotive no. 740 'Ingwezi' (built by Beyer Peacock in 1957) performs a run-past between Bulawayo and Heany Junction, Zimbabwe, as it heads the ‘Union Limited Zambezi’ tour train on the first stage back to South Africa. I was fortunate to have a footplate ride on this locomotive around here and the main memory is of the very loud noise of the steam jets of the mechanical stoker as they directed the coal around the firebox. These were the only NRZ locomotives fitted with these stokers.
