Summary[edit]

Description Tech. Sgt. Wayne Marsden from the 302nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron moves a set of wheel chalks into place for a Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) C-130 aircraft from the 731st Airlift Squadron during a MAFFS certification and recurrent training exercise at Peterson AFB, Colo. MAFFS is a portable fire retardant system that can be installed on C-130s to convert them into air tankers. Military units that are MAFFS certified take part in a partnership with federal land management agencies to provide supplemental air tankers to assist in fire suppression efforts nationwide during times of need.
