« Situé sur les terrains aménagés de l’île Green à Ottawa, l’ancien hôtel de ville d’Ottawa est un bâtiment de huit étages à parement en pierre, conçu dans le style International. La dalle du bâtiment présente en façade un volume cubique de trois étages, qui abrite la salle de délibération. Ces deux éléments sont assis sur un podium surélevé d’échelle monumentale, soutenu par des pilotis pour donner l’impression que le tout flotte. Les murs extérieurs sont d’un style nettement géométrique. L’ensemble est fini avec des matériaux de haute qualité et de belle facture, dont des panneaux en pierre calcaire, des cadres de fenêtres en aluminium extrudé et des vitrages. »
