Description: The ancient synagogue is located in Horvat Maon which is an archaeological site located east of Kibbutz Nirim in the northwestern Negev and about 20 km south of Gaza.

שם: רצפת פסיפס - בית כנסת במעון-נירים
תיאור: בית הכנסת העתיק שוכן בחורבת מעון (ערבית חרבת אל-מעין) שהיא אתר ארכאולוגי השוכן ליד צומת מעון, ממזרח לקיבוץ נירים שבנגב הצפון-מערבי וכ-20 ק"מ מדרום לעזה.
הערות: אתר רצפת פסיפס מן התקופה הביזנטית (מאות חמישית ושישית לספירה) של בית הכנסת בישוב מעון-נירים אשר בנגב המערבי נפתח בשנת 2009 לקהל הרחב. מדובר ברצפת פסיפס שגודלה המקורי היה 7.80 על 3.70 מטרים, אך ניזוקה בעת סלילת כביש אל קיבוץ ניר עוז במהלך שנת 1957. רצפת הפסיפס, שרידיו של בית כנסת, התגלתה במהלך חפירות הצלה שנערכו בשנת 1957. תנאים סביבתיים לקויים וחוסר תחזוקה הביא בשנים האחרונות להתדרדרות במצב השתמרות הרצפה, ולכן בשנת 2006 הוצא הפסיפס מאתרו והועבר לטיפול במעבדות השימור במוזיאון רוקפלר ( רשות העתיקות)
