The Shrine of The Saint Margaret Clitherow in The Shambles. Eine Gedenkstätte der Fleischersgattin Margaret Clitherow. Sie nahm an einer Messe teil, als die Katholiken verfolgt wurden und versteckte Jesuiten auf ihrem Dachboden. Sie wurde deshalb 1586 hingerichtet, indem man sie unter einer mit Steinen beschwerten Türe erdrückte. Sie wurde 1970 heiliggesprochen. |
