English: ATLANTIC OCEAN (Oct. 12, 2009) Cmdr. Edward Devinney, commanding officer of the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67), reads a memorial speech to the crew on the 9th anniversary of the Oct. 12, 2000 terrorist attack on ship that killed 17 Sailors and injured 39. Cole is participating in Exercise Joint Warrior 09-2, a United Kingdom-led, multinational exercise designed to improve interoperability between allied navies. The exercise also prepares participating naval forces for a role in combined operations during upcoming deployments. |
